About San Fran

A travel assistant you can ask anything, about anywhere. San Fran is the assistant's name, not a destination.

The name

San Fran is a persona, not a place. It covers destinations worldwide — every continent, cities and coastlines and mountain passes, a weekend away and a six-month trip. If the name made you think this was a San Francisco guide, that is the one thing about it we would change and cannot.

What it is

A conversation with someone who travels constantly and has opinions about it. Ask where to go in March on a limited budget, how to spend five days in Lisbon, whether a three-hour layover is enough, which neighbourhood to stay in, what to pack for Patagonia, or whether the rail pass pays for itself. You get a direct answer, with actual place names in it.

It is deliberately opinionated. Advice that hedges everything is not advice, so San Fran will tell you a place is a tourist trap and where to go instead. That is the whole point of asking a person rather than a search engine.

What it is not

  • Not a booking engine. It does not hold inventory, check availability, or take payment. It tells you what to book; you book it.
  • Not live data. The model has a training cutoff and does not browse. Prices, schedules, opening hours, closures and visa rules move constantly, so anything time-sensitive should be confirmed with the airline, the operator or the relevant government before you commit money to it. San Fran will say so when it matters.
  • Not a substitute for official entry requirements. It can tell you roughly how visas tend to work for a given passport and destination. It cannot tell you what yours needs today.
  • Not infallible. It can be wrong, and it is written to say “check before you book” rather than invent a detail it is unsure of. If something looks off, it might be.

Who built it

San Fran is made by Zeekend, which builds advertising infrastructure for AI applications. San Fran is partly a real product and partly a demonstration that sponsorship inside an assistant can be done without ruining it: clearly labelled, kept separate from the answer, and never allowed to influence what gets recommended.

How that works is set out on the advertising disclosure page. What happens to your conversation is on the privacy page.
